The Virtual Revolution

Last night I watched a fascinating BBC2 programme on BBC2 called Virtual Revolution, and it told of how every e-mail you send via sites likes Googlemail, and every web search you do, feeds the information of what you are looking for and what type of person you are to their advertisers. YOU are the commodity that allows companies such as Google to be FREE. Some sites also place tracking cookies on your PC without you even knowing.

Other sites like Facebook, Myspace, Twitter etc, are also collating all your personal data such as where you live, dates of birth, photo’s habits etc - which we all freely give, not realising that any of these companies may one day sell all that information on to someone else!!!

Have you ever wondered why when you apply for say, a credit card or loan online for example, you suddenly start getting loads of junk mail about loans?

Be careful what you say people THEY are watching you!
